IP and Brand Development
IP Development
We are currently in the middle of an IP arms race. Don't let your organization be left in the dust!
In the modern-day discourse, intellectual property (IP) is worth its weight in gold. Studies have shown time and time again your audience is more likely to connect with diverse stories that speak to them on a personal level, and will go out of their way to purchase merchandize that reminds them of said stories. The easiest and most effective way to spark this connection is through the use of IP; whether you simply wish to create a fun character for your TikTok, Shorts, or Reels account or want to go deeper with a developed world filled with a cast of cooky characters, BDP XD is here to help!
"But what would I do with such things? What benefit does it have for my organization?"
IPs (including definable characters) can boost merchandise sales for your organization. Children and adults alike will go out of their way to purchase clothing, souvenirs, hats, stickers, and similar objects if they feature characters, designs, or logos they enjoy or have connected with.
A highly-developed IP allows your organization to break into new markets that they have perhaps not had the chance to explore previously. Things such as short-form video content, décor, experiential marketing, games, live character interactions, immersive experiences, and live performances are all on the table once you have a strong IP at your disposal.
The employees of BDP XD have spent years creating original characters for live events, fictional stories, and virtual experiences. Let us help you create the next big iconic brand!
Here are just a few examples of IPs and characters our CEO has created in the past-
Dr. Overton, the eccentric "STEAMpunk" inventor who mysteriously vanished and left clues to his location hidden inside his lab notes. This character was created for an educational experience meant to promote S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), so all of the clues had to be solved using elements and techniques of S.T.E.A.M.
Zeke the Wanderer, a character who lived in the dystopian world of 2112, where an EMP had completely shut down the world's electricity and plunged it into darkness. Zeke was also an educational character, as he taught guests how to tie snare traps and lassos in order to "survive" in this futuristic world.
Buffalo Bob, the owner and CEO of "Buffalo Bob's Eco-Shack." Bob generally kept to himself and lived as an isolated outdoorsman in the deep woods of Canada, until one day while out chopping wood he had a miniature heart attack and almost didn't pull through. Afterwards, Buffalo Bob decided that he was going to change his way of living and only consume things that were healthy and natural; eventually he opened converted his cabin into a quick-service restaurant that only served clean, natural foods to his customers.
The Chameleon was a character designed for an original Call of Cthulhu one-shot based around the themes of nostalgia and vaporwave. This character was encountered by players inside the video store of an abandoned mall, and the horrific forms it took were based on the DVDs that were stuck playing on repeat on the store's TV. It would change forms to fit with the greatest fears of whichever player was looking at it at the time.
The Narbrooi, an original character based on the legends of Papa New Guinea. This mischievous and sometimes insidious character was designed as part of an immersive game experience meant to teach guests about global folklore. The Narbrooi was a spirit that lived amongst the fog in the very tops of the tallest trees of Papa New Guinea and was only summoned when a sick or injured soul was around; if the person brought the proper offering to the Narbrooi he would act as their guide, but if they offended the spirit he would steal their soul and tuck it away in his burlap sack to put with the rest of his collection.
